The Last Ice Age

No, it's not Disney's last movie nor Universal's new attraction.

25,000 years ago , mammoths , sablertoothed cats, and giant ground sloths roamed through Los Angeles basin. Homosapiens were present too...

George C. Page Museum at Rancho la Brea in Downtown L.A. , built next to the La Brea Tar Pits where today volunteers still dig out fossils from one of a hundred pits located in the area, tells us the story and presents to it's visitors a look into the past of our city.

La Brea Tar Pits formed 40,000 years ago and have been seeping tar (brea) out of the ground since then.

Many animals became trapped and entombed in this asphalt through the years. This is the home to over 3 million fossils from the Last Ice Age.
